What you can do yourself
Unplug the air conditioner, lift the front panel of the indoor unit and take out the mesh filters. Rinse them in warm water, let them dry fully and put them back — manuals suggest doing this every 2–4 weeks. Leave the inside of the unit, the coil and the fan, to the technician.

- cleans the indoor coil and fan with a dedicated cleaner, taking the unit apart if needed;
- clears the drain pipe and tray so water runs freely;
- cleans dust and leaves from the outdoor unit coil;
- checks the refrigerant pressure and the compressor.

Open sources list indoor unit cleaning for a unit up to 12,000 BTU at 150–200 ₾, sometimes together with the outdoor unit. Deep cleaning with disassembly and a separate outdoor unit wash cost more. Several units in one visit are often cheaper per unit.
Does refrigerant need topping up every year?
No. A sound air conditioner does not use up refrigerant. Low pressure means a leak somewhere — it is found first, then the system is recharged.
