How much it costs

When a radiator is worth replacing
- the radiator leaks between sections or from the bottom;
- even after flushing the top is hot and the bottom is cold;
- an old cast-iron or aluminium radiator no longer warms the room;
- a renovation needs a new point by a window or in another room;
- you want a thermostatic valve to control each room separately.
Which radiator to choose
Apartments mostly have steel panel or aluminium sectional radiators. A panel radiator is easier to fit and looks neat; a sectional one can be made longer by adding sections.
The size depends on the room area, the number of windows and whether the flat is on a corner. Send the technician the room size and the length and height of the old radiator, and they will tell you what output you need and whether a new one fits the existing connection.
How the installation goes
The technician switches off the boiler, drains the system or the radiator section and removes the old radiator. The new one is fixed to the wall, fitted with valves and an air vent, and connected to the pipes.
Finally the system is refilled, the air is let out, the pressure is restored and the technician checks that the joints do not leak and the radiator heats evenly.
The radiator price depends on the model and size and is agreed separately. If you have already bought one, send the technician a photo and the dimensions in advance.

Can a radiator be replaced during the heating season?
Yes. The boiler is off for a few hours, and if the radiator has its own valves the whole system often does not need draining.
Is the price per radiator?
Yes, the guide is for fitting one radiator, not including the radiator itself. Moving pipes or drilling through a wall costs more.
Will the technician take the old radiator away?
Agree this with the technician in advance: some take it themselves, otherwise it is arranged separately.
