Washing machine leaking — causes and repair in Tbilisi
Water under the machine can come from many places. Where it appears and at which stage of the wash is the best clue to the cause. For safety, first unplug the machine and turn off the water supply.

First things first
- unplug the machine — water and electricity are a dangerous combination;
- turn off the tap the machine is connected to;
- if water could leak through to the neighbours, warn them.
Where it leaks — and what it may be
- from under the door during the wash — the door seal or door glass;
- at the lower front corner — the filter cap or the pump;
- at the top, from the detergent drawer — a clogged drawer or too much detergent;
- at the back — the inlet or drain hose connection;
- from the tub underneath, often with rust marks — the tub seal and bearings or a cracked tub.
What you can check yourself
- wipe the floor under the machine dry so you can spot fresh drops;
- check that the filter cap is screwed in tightly;
- look at the hose connections behind the machine — are they wet?
- note at which stage the water appears: filling, washing, draining or spinning.
